Small Business Logo Failures
“Hey assholes, why don’t you pick on someone your own size, huh? These small businesses are the backbone of America and making fun of them makes you a TERRORIST!” – Summary of everyone that’s ever yelled at us for criticizing small business logos.
Yeah, well, we wish the backbone of America would straighten up and get some decent marketing. It’s an integral part of running a good business, and these logos really aren’t helping anybody.

We’ve all been faced with this design challenge at one time or another: secondary text or words that need to find a home somewhere under the main text. While most would probably wrestle with the typeface until it obeys, there are others who succumb to the pressures of what we like to call the “Bookend Logo” (sometimes also called the “Logo Sandwich”).
Simply put, a Bookend Logo takes two enlarged capital letters and smashes everything else in between them. The result: a logo that people have a hard time reading and some fun words created in middle. Seen here is ITA and PILLE.

This bank should change their name to Eagle National Barf with this sorry rendition of our National bird…looks more like a buzzard that’s about to barf on it’s prey!
